Family Splash Sat., June 15 Samford Pool

Get ready to make a splash with Active Auburn as they gear up to host the annual Family Splash event at Samford Pool on Saturday, June 15th.

Families and community members are invited to dive into a day of aquatic fun and excitement, as admission to Samford Pool will be entirely free from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a refreshing escape from the summer heat while participating in an array of contests and games throughout the day.

The festivities will feature contests such as the cannonball and belly flop competitions, offering participants the chance to showcase their best aquatic skills and vie for exciting prizes. To secure a spot in these spirited competitions, registration is required. Interested individuals can sign up by visiting

Weekend Tournament at Auburn Parks and Recreation Facilities

Yarbrough Tennis Center will host the USTA Level 6 Auburn Jr. Summer Championship. Over 90 youth tennis players will compete Sat. and Sun., June 15-16. The WSL will host a Men's slow pitch Softball Tournament Sat. June 15 at the Auburn Softball Complex.

Auburn Parks and Recreation Independence Day Celebration Thu., July 4

Celebrate Independence Day with the entire Auburn Community Thu., July 4 at Duck Samford Stadium! Enjoy great food and treats for purchase, giveaways, free inflatables, children’s activities, and music. Enjoy music with D.J. Oz and the band Rock Mob. Aubie will be there to help us celebrate.  Gates open at 5 p.m. Families are encouraged to drive to Duck Samford Stadium (1840 East Glenn Avenue) or Duck Samford and Bo Cavin Baseball fields (333 Airport Road for parking). The fireworks will be set off in a centrally located area. Duck Samford Baseball Fields 1-3 (1720 East University Drive) will be closed to the public to accommodate the fireworks shoot site. The best fireworks display in the entire area! Fireworks will begin between 9-9:15 p.m. pending darkness. The rain date is Friday, July 5. FREE to the public.

Auburn Arts Association call for entries for Summer Show

The Auburn Arts Association (AAA) is calling all area artists and craftsperson to submit works for the 2024 Summer Show: Black and White + One Color. This exhibition will be on view from July 10 through August 24 in the Art Gallery at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center.

Works may be two or three-dimensional, in any style, or technique, and in any medium. Photographic and digital works are considered. Materials, compositions, and subject matter are open to personal interpretations.

Color Limitations: Black, white, and the one (pure) color of choice may not be mixed – that is, no tints, shades, or tones of the primary hue are used.

For 2-D works, the maximum size is 48” to 60”. Sculptures, ceramics, constructions, found objects, and other 3-D works should adhere to reasonable size and weight guidelines. Photographs and works on paper must be framed (no glass). Canvas works must be gallery-wrapped. All works must be wired and ready for display. While works do not need to be new, they should not have been previously shown in the JDCAC exhibitions.

There is no entry fee, and works may be for sale. A public reception to meet the artists will be scheduled during the exhibition. Works may be reviewed beginning Wednesday, June 26. Final submissions will be due at the Arts Center by Wednesday, July 3.

City Market every Saturday this summer until August 24

City Market is back for the summer of 2024! Join us every Saturday through August 24th at Town Creek Park. The best farmer's market in Auburn begins at 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Don't worry about parking - we've got you covered with parking available in the gravel lot across from Town Creek Park. Just a heads up, vendors will start selling their amazing products at 8am sharp. Come on out and enjoy live music, fun activities for the kids, and of course, an array of fresh, local, and handcrafted items to browse and purchase. Can't wait to see you there!

LED light installation now complete at Samford Ave. Pickleball and Tennis Center

The LED light installation at the Samford Avenue Pickleball and Tennis Center has been completed. All but two courts are available for play, one tennis court and one pickleball court. For player safety, nets have been removed from the two courts that are currently not playable. The Samford Avenue Pickleball and Tennis Center is located at 901 East Samford Avenue.

Auburn Arts Association Spring Invitational Art Exhibition SQUARE on display at the JDCAC

The Auburn Arts Association is currently hosting the 2024 Spring Invitational Art Exhibition: SQUARE. The exhibition will be on display through June 22 at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC).

The exhibit features a wide variety of works based on the theme: Square. Visit the Jan Dempsey Arts Center's Gallery is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. closed on Sundays.

Auburn Parks and Recreation accepting reservation request online

Auburn Parks and Recreation is now accepting facility and park reservation requests online. Those who wish to reserve a facility, athletic facility, or park pavilion can complete their application for request using their online account at

Please make all requests at least two weeks prior to the desired reservation date in order to leave time for the approval process. Requests must be reviewed and approved by the facility director and department director. Once approved, payments can be made online using a credit card or by cash or check in-person at the Harris Center.

Frank Brown Recreation Center Membership Card Required to play racquetball and free basketball

Auburn Parks and Recreation now requires membership cards for free play basketball and racquetball.


Free play basketball and racquetball at Frank Brown Recreation Center are open free of charge to citizens who live, work or attend school within the city limits of Auburn, AL and to non-citizens for a one-time $30.00 fee. A membership must be acquired for free play basketball and racquetball regardless of age. Replacement cards will cost $30.00 regardless of residency. The membership card is non-transferable and can only be used by the card holder. You must be at least 13 years of age to participate in free play basketball and 15 years of age to participate in racquetball. Children ages 13-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian at the time of application.
